Adult Sized Blanket Fort – Fuerte de manta tamaño adulto
Today it is snowing in New York! We finally have our snow day after waiting two years. If you are looking for me, I will be curled up by the fire, watching movies and grading papers. What’s that you say? You didn’t think we had a fireplace? Well, we still don’t have a real one, but I bought an electric fireplace for the basement. We have been enjoying it for the last month and a half.
This version of the basement update started because Sofi was coming to stay with us, and the boys were staying in the second bedroom. I wanted to make a comfortable room for her to stay, so we hung sheets around a section of the basement and made it look like a real room.
The sheets are on tracks and can be opened and closed. When Ironman saw it for the first time he said, “Wow. It looks like a tent fort.” As you know, unfortunately, the boys left before Sofi arrived, and she was able to stay in the little bedroom. I am still glad that we made the changes. It is a lot nicer down here for watching television.
We do still have to finish the last corner.
Todavía tenemos que terminar el último rincón.
Happy Homemaking!
¡Qué todos tus sueños caseros se cumplan!
Like a huge canopy bed where royalty would sleep. So fun and calming. Our basement isn’t worth peanuts but yours is Cracker Jack. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
I like the canopy bed analogy. I always wanted to sleep in a cupboard bed like in Wurhering Heights. Your house is nice and big, especially since the remodel, so a basement is not as essential for you as it is for us.
The sheets and fireplace make it look so cozy! I bet the sheets help hold the heat in, too. I have often thought that if I didn’t have a fireplace, I would buy one of these, too. I can see that your furkids love it!
The animals do love the fireplace, particularly the cats who get mesmerized by the flickering lights. The sheets do hold in heat. I originally bought velvet curtains but cancelled the order when I found out they would take over a month to arrive. The curtains would have held the heat even better, but I do like how the sheets allow more light to pass through and keep the room brighter than it would have been.
love it! that fireplace must look SO COOL when there’s no other light in the room. i want one!
It is actually not cool but rather warm. 😉 If you are really interested, let me know and I will give you the information on it.
We have no where to really put one. Someday!!!
