Balls to the Wall Christmas Tree
People are going to get the wrong idea about me. On Monday I was talking about beer and today is all about balls. Balls and beer, now I know why my husband loves me.
However, the balls that I want to discuss today are the ones that we hung on the Christmas tree.
It all started on Saturday, November 29th. Thanksgiving was over, and it was time to get our Christmas on. We brought the boxes up our of the basement and Crèmie helped us unpack them.
With Christmas music playing on the stereo we constructed the tree and started to decorate it. Douglas and Menderes strung the lights and then we started to hang the balls. The young Muslim in our midst was afraid to have his picture taken while decorating a Christmas tree, his first! He wore a clever disguise.
My job was to put hooks on the balls that did not have any. My faithful feline companion made sure that I was doing it correctly.
Having more fun than you might have expected with the balls, I stated that this would be a “Balls to the Wall Christmas Tree.”
Douglas loved that comment and changed the music from the Christmas theme to “Balls to the Wall” by Accept. When that song ended he put on “Big Balls” by AC/DC. We are probably the only ones that listen to heavy metal while decorating Christmas trees. There is video evidence of Douglas singing these songs, but he has forbidden me to post them on the blog. If he ever misbehaves they are going to be on here in the blink of the eye!
The original plan was to put on the rest of the ornaments after we adorned the tree with the balls. However, it looked so pretty with all of the balls that we decided that it did not need anything else. It also could have been that we are lazy and did not want to keep working.
Whatever our reason, I think that our tree is beautiful. Sitting around in the evenings by the glow of the tree and the lights in the windows makes me happy. I love Christmas.
During the week, I leave the house in the dark and return after sunset which means that I rarely see my house in the daylight. Thankfully, I have some pretty pictures to remind me of what it looks like. I am glad now that I did not get a chance to paint the chairs black before Christmas. All the red really adds to the Christmas feeling.
We hope to finish decorating this weekend, so that I can give you the 2015 Christmas Tour of the Cape of Dreams. Stay tuned!
Happy Holidays!
P.S. I am sharing this with A Little Bird Told Me, Feathered Nest Friday, Fall into Fall, Creative Inspirations,
I love reading your blog. You are such a good writer. I feel like I am visiting your house everytime I read them. Merry Christmas love Aunt Marlana
Oh, thank you so much! That means the world to me. I hope that someday you can come visit my house for real. Hope all is well in Texas!
I’m SO glad the balls you wanted to discuss on this post were the Christmas tree’s.
Yeah. I don’t think any of my readers would want to hear about the other balls!
