Cleaning Out the Closet for Autumn
I have never been into clothes the way some people are. I did not inherit that gene (jean:) from my father. Hee hee. That man looooves to buy clothes. I hate shopping, but I do not like to get rid of anything. Therefore, even though I do not shop that much, I have a lot of clothing. Even though my fall and winter clothes were in storage, my closet was overflowing.
Things were so bad that I could not even put away the newly washed laundry. Crème did not seem to mind that there was a pile at the foot of the bed.
My out of season clothing is kept in this suitcase. I decided that I was not going to bring out all of my fall and winter clothing. I just took out my favorite things.
I was also ruthless about what I kept in the closet. I did not get rid of anything this time, but I did put it in the suitcase. The things that do not come out of the suitcase next time will go to Goodwill.
The closet is looking much better. There are still a lot of clothes in there, but I can at least see everything that is in there now. I can also pull out articles of clothing without anything falling out.
Closetwise, you’re a very frugal girl — I need 10 times that space. I might try the put-it-in-a-suitcase trick. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
Those that know me would probably say that I am pretty frugal about everything. Spending a lot of money makes me anxious!
Boy, we are on the same wavelength. Front closet-cleaning today! Bedroom this weekend? I, too, don’t throw things out and I have a TON of clothes … far more then I need. Something’s gotta give.
Great minds think alike! Every time I have ever gotten rid of an article of clothing, I have regretted it one day. I hold on to far too much, but there are often things that I do not wear for years, and then suddenly I get an urge to pull them out and put them on.
Me, too! I just can’t go by the “if you haven’t worn it in two years, throw it out” rule.
looking good! love the suitcase idea! i need to do some serious closet cleaning soon…
It is a satisfying task. You will feel good once it’s done.
