Coat Rack Update II
This coat rack was the second Christmas present I ever gave Douglas. I made it for him after he mentioned to me once that he needed a coat rack in his apartment. I wrote a blog post about it right after I started this blog.
One of the items on our project list for the past couple of years has been to hang the coat rack on the wall. It is hard to see in this picture, but it has been rubbing against the wall and damaging the drywall.
A couple of weeks ago, Douglas took it upon himself to hang up his present. It started with a row of brackets across the bottom. He probably did not need that many, but he likes to cover his bases.
Next, he installed another row of brackets across the top.
He could not find his plumb line, so he made one himself with some line and a large bolt.
Screwing it in was difficult. He had to get in some interesting positions to accomplish the task.
Finally, the coat rack was up on the wall in all its glory.
To be honest, when I made the coat rack, I did not imagine that it was going to be hanging in my house. I made it to coordinate with the look of Douglas’ apartment. It does not really go with the decor in this room, but I cannot ask Douglas to give it up. So, I live with it. I am much happier now that it is on the wall.
One more item checked off of the list! The living room is looking pretty good if I do say so myself. I only wish that someone would come paint the door and all the trim for me.
Happy Homemaking!
I also dream of a painting elf taking care of doors and trim for me! So far, no such luck! I think the coat rack looks great.
Where do you think those painting elves live and how can one attract them?
I always have the best intentions of painting trim but it’s such a drag. It’s so great that he’s proud of your creation. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
He likes that it functions as an award display as well as a coat rack. In fact in the summer it only serves to show off his medals!
Painting trim … oh yeah, I was going to do that in the kitchen this summer. Hmm…
So many things to do and too little time!
I like the coat rack! I am curious to know: what is that little white device you have plugged into the wall beside it?
It is a programmable outlet. I use it for Christmas so that my lights go on automatically. As you can see, I am not very good about remembering to remove it after Christmas.
I love that the cat supervised the project!
She supervises every project. Now if only she would start doing them herself!
