Curb Sale Dresser Provides Storage
It seems like just yesterday that I cleaned and organized the shed. However, when I went back through my old posts, it turned out that it has been six months and eleven days. It appears that this is one of those chores that has to be repeated frequently to keep the mess at bay. I wish that chaos were not such a powerful force.
The re-cleaning of the shed was spurred by this innocent little dresser found on the side of the road across the street from our house. For half a day I watched it hoping that someone else would pick it up. A couple of cars stopped, and I was hopeful that it would find a new home with someone else. In the end no one else wanted it, and Douglas brought it home without telling me.
He had the foresight to use it in the shed. Since he was the one that came up with the plan, he was the one that had the privilege of creating a space for it. He should be writing this post! I am not sure what he did because I was hard at work in the house. However, following the pictures, it seems that the first step was to clear most everything out of the shed. Thankfully, this project only took a couple of hours, so I did not have to look at the mess on my lawn for long.
Once the shed was mostly empty it was easy to sweep the floor and dispose of the cobwebs.
Douglas moved the large shelves to the right and the dresser fit perfectly to the left. He created space behind it to store shovels and other long garden utensils.
The drawers are perfect storage spaces for the smaller gardening implements. It will now be easier to find everything.
Lastly, he rearranged everything and fit it back in like a large 3D jigsaw puzzle.
It looks much better now.
You might notice that not everything made it back. The old bicycle is not in there. You might recognize it from our Halloween decorations Headless Bicycle Man and Scary Halloween Bicycle Man. It actually belongs to our tenants, and we need to find out what they want to do with it. For now it is leaning against the back porch.
Here is one last look at the before and after.
Happy Homemaking!
Slave labor is my department, writing about it is yours… :p
If you keep referring to yourself as slave labor, I am going to have to ramp up the projects.
Wow, a clean shed. I don’t even know what that means. Great job. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
Thanks, but this was all Douglas.
Can you come clean mine? It’s a nightmare!
Actually for a trip to France, I would consider it! Would you put me up for a couple of days?
That little dresser is the key to it all! I have a similar project waiting for me: cleaning out the greenhouse. Eric will have to clear out the spiders before I can really get in there! So many projects, so little time!
I love finding useful things in the trash. Did you get any of your projects done over the weekend?
