Daytime Christmas Tour 2014
It’s Christmas on my mind. I cannot think about anything else these days. I still have Christmas shopping to finish up, so while you are reading this, I will be braving the hoards at the mall. Wish me luck and enjoy the tour!
Last Wednesday, I showed you around the house at night. Now I would like to lead you through in the daytime. I wish there were snow because the house looks a lot cuter with a blanket of snow tucking her in. Alas, it is not looking as though we are going to get a white Christmas this year.
It is nice for me to see the house in the daylight. Friday was our last day of school, and I am truly enjoying being outside in the sunshine… what little of it there is in the winter.
Coming up to the front door, you can check out my new wreath. I broke down and bought a grapevine wreath because I finally admitted to myself that I was not going to make one.
I added an ornament that came on a present I received last year. It’s cute, and it was easy. Let me be honest, facility is at the top of my list these days.
Coming in the living room puts a smile on my face.
I love red, and this is the perfect season for it.
The rooms feels so warm even when it is freezing outside.
There are holiday touches everywhere. A smaller wreath with bells graces the inside door.
I used the cards that we have been given over the years to decorate the drum.
They also fill the china cabinet.
And cards adorn the shelves around the plants as well as the ones around the Christmas tree.
Our yoga lady lamps are into the holiday spirit as well.
We have three stuffed animals that come out at Christmastime. The Snoopy with the Yankees’ shirt came from Yankee Stadium, and I added the Santa hat. The reindeer was a gift, as was the teddy bear that I have had since I was fourteen.
Moving into the dining room, we pass our “Balls to the Wall” Christmas tree. Since the adornments are so simple this year, I decided to use a plain sheet for a tree skirt. The white symbolizes snow. I continued the white with the tissue paper wrapped books.
Christmas tins grace the table top. I have been collecting them for a number of years.
At first, I kept the tablecloth on from Thanksgiving, but Crème started to pull on it with her claws. Now the table is bare but for the tins and a little poinsettia that I could not resist buying.
The bad kitten keeps insisting on climbing onto the table herself as well. I should put a red bow on her and call her a Christmas ornament.
In the kitchen I hung several Christmas potholders, but that is all. Next year I would like to have some lights in here also.
The bedroom does not look as magical during the day but makes up for it at night. The little purple tree has a white hand towel to keep the same theme.
Down in the basement, I used another white sheet as a tree skirt.
There are a couple more tins and a Santa jar on the china cabinet down there.
Hopefully, while you were reading this, I found all of the gifts that I was looking for and have finished my shopping. I hope that you enjoyed the tour more than I did the crowds at the mall! Is your shopping all done?
Happy Holidays!
all the red looks so festive, kitty looks cozy in winter coat, happy holidays!
Thanks, Tess. Happy Holidays to you too!
Crème is the purrfect decoration. I bought a new tablecloth and it’s already snagged and ugly because of “certain people” who insist on lying on the table …
Cats, arg! Crème figured out that she could pull the tablecloth off of the table. Such a stinker, but she is sooooooo cute.
It looks fabulous!!!
Thanks, Darinda! Merry Christmas to you and Alex.
Merry Christmas to you all too!
