Decisions, Decisions – Decisiones
This weekend, I was planning to get a lot of work done. I had decided that I was not going to my high school reunion because I had been traveling too much this summer, needed to save money, had work to get done, did not have anyone to watch Kahlua, did not want to drive up there by myself…
Yes, I ended up going. We were a close class and had a great turn out. Even though I moved away right after high school and did not keep in touch with many people, it was awesome to see them again. It is weird that I can feel closer to these people that I have not spent time with in 25 years than my current friends. I do not regret my decision to go, but it did put my current project on hold. That means that my house is a mess!
That is not necessarily a bad thing that I couldn’t finish painting, since I still have not picked the color. There were a lot of preparatory things that I should have done so that I could paint this week. Of course, my birthday is tomorrow, so I might not get anything done this week either!
No está tan mal que no pude terminar de pintar, porque ¡aún no he escogido el color! Había otras cosas preparatorias que debería haber hecho para poder pintar esta semana, pero cumplo años mañana así que es poco probable que pinte esta semana tampoco.
If you have any thoughts about what color you think is best, please let me know. I wish that Douglas were here to help me pick! I took several pictures in the morning and in the late afternoon. The colors are from left to right: Pink Swirl, Spring Pink and Sugarcane by Benjamin Moore.
Things will get done in due time. I think it’s probably more important to have human interactions, especially when it’s reunion time. We’ll see what I think when I read my email about the cousins reunion next year that I had decided I wasn’t going to go to.
Paint color – it’s always a perplexing question, isn’t it? I guess my advice is just to keep on doing prep work and let the right color speak to you after time. Or maybe take a fresh look at the paint chart after some time considering the current colors? Sometimes that works and something suddenly jumps out at me saying “Pick me!” Good luck!
You are so wise – both about the human interaction and about doing the prep work and letting my gut choose the color. That is exactly how it happened. You should go to your reunion. You might regret it someday if you don’t.
My advice on pink walls is to go light. I used Benjamin Moore’s Head-Over-Heels on my diva room. For me the room is just the right shade of pink. The swatch, however, looked barely colored; almost beige. https://charlieandjo.wordpress.com/2013/02/20/diva-digs/
Yes, the girl at the hardware store was concerned that the paints all looked beige to her instead of pink, but I said good. I knew they would look brighter on the wall.
So that’s why you cleared out the dining room! Now you have to choose other wise you’ll have to put all that stuff back! 🙂 It’s so hard … remember how many colors I tested before I picked my gray? Well, I’m still second-guessing! I love very pale pink tones because they look so warm, especially at night. I’d probably go with the lightest one (pink swirl or sugarcane, can’t tell). It will brighten your space a lot!
Is Ponche growing into a big cat? He reminds me of my Checkers, who is 18 lbs of love, I notice that many B&W cats (not tuxedos) are quite large, almost like they are a breed to themselves. Kisses to Ponche!
Pink swirl was too bright, although I did love it with certain lights. I went with sugarcane in the end.
Pon he might look big in pictures, but he is a miniature cat. Crème is small, but even she is bigger than him. He is shaped like a big cat, but tiny. We think he might have been the runt, but he is sweet.
i like the Sugarcane color best. But it’s always hard to tell unless you’re there, and it’s also sometimes hard to tell until all the walls are painted and you’re either all “awesome!” or “oh no…”
Happy Birthday!
your class reunion looks nice and relaxing. i’ve never gone to one. my class was small (80), but i was the artistic gothy weirdo that had no friends and got picked on, so i really don’t want to see them again 😛
I picked sugarcane. Thanks for remembering my birthday! You might be surprised about a reunion. People are much nicer now than they ever were in high school. I really enjoyed getting to know people now that I never got along with in high school.
I agree with Jessica … you might be surprised at a reunion. I went to my 40th and actually enjoyed myself. All the BS was (pretty much) over with and people were more secure with themselves and much less cliquey. You might have to wait for your 40th to achieve this, though! 🙂
I think it happens earlier. I went to both the 20 and the 25, and people were all done with the high school BS.
So funny we have the same summer project. I’m supposed to paint the living room as well. I began but had to stop due to a sudden low blood pressure that leaves me exhausted. I can’t wait to see your reveal.
I hope you feel well enough to paint soon. I look forward to seeing your room.
