DIY Air Freshener
I made my own air freshener with items I had in my home.
I did not come up with this idea on my own. The idea came from the blog Free People. They did theirs a little differently. Below is a picture of their air freshener.
I had the Ball jar but decided to recycle the cover of a magazine instead of using cardstock for the cover. That way I did not need to paint it for decoration.
First, I picked the image I wanted and traced the cover of the Ball jar on the magazine cover. Then, I cut it out.
It fit perfectly in the lid.
I screwed in on the jar and punched holes in the lid with a nail. I put the holes along the lines of the picture, so that they would be less obvious.
Next, I put in the baking soda and eucalyptus oil. I filled about a fourth of the jar with baking soda and put in about fifteen drops of eucalyptus oil. I was not very exact in my measurements. Now I have an air freshener for free. It took me all of ten minutes to make. I made it while talking on the phone with my cousin.
Happy Homemaking!
Great idea! Love how pretty the top looks. I have some old jars around so I’ll have to try this. Love a fresh clean smell around the house. COOL!
It is so easy to do. That is what makes it so awesome.
Such a neat idea!! Had to try it but had no peppermint oil so I used the scents from my rainbow vacuum cleaner only 4-9% oil but it worked. I also found the neatest pictures in my old magazines for the top. Thanks for the idea.
I’m glad you liked the idea. Good thinking to use the vacuum cleaner scents. I like that kind of resourcefulness!
Is the baking soda same as baking powder (that is used for baking)?
Baking powder is different, but baking soda is also used in some edible recipes. I use baking soda in pancakes for example. The washing soda is non-edible.
