First Signs of Spring
We had a great weekend. My mom had been planning to come for a week. When my brother heard that she would be here for the weekend, he decided to come as well. Then, on Thursday, Douglas received a call from a good friend that he would be in town for the weekend and could he stay with us. Of course! We may only have one guest room and no kitchen sink, but we have a blow up mattress and a floor and a sink in the bathroom. The more the merrier!
There was much talking and eating and drinking and Boogle playing this weekend, but there was not much work done in the kitchen. I did manage to get a little done and will share that one Wednesday, but for the most part, we just enjoyed each other’s company and did not worry about the state of the kitchen.
The most exciting thing that happened this weekend was when I saw this…
…and this.
Spring is making an appearance.
The yard may still be piled in slowly-melting, dirty snow, but spring is not far off!
Before we know it, we will have daffodils!
On another note, Crème has asked me to share this picture of the squirrel taunting her outside the window. She thinks that she should be allowed to go outside to chase the rascal. What do you think?
Happy Homemaking!
Isn’t it awesome to see bulbs sprouting!!
I suppose Crème is promising that she will come right back inside after she gets the squirrel, huh?
Crème told me that she is not even going to leave the porch to catch that squirrel. She thinks she is so fast… and smart. And yet I know that she ran into the front yard as soon as her little legs hit the ground the other day when I let her out to see the snow. I am not trusting her for a second!
As for the flowers, I cannot wait for the snow to melt! We always have a carpet of purple crocuses in the spring that are beautiful beyond belief.
Oh, I love Spring – it reminds us that there are better things to come. I lost my mum in Spring but there was something very fitting about all the daffodils and spring flowers letting us know things will be ok. And indeed they were.
As for Creme, go on – let her at it!! Humph will gladly watch from afar. 😉

Spring is lovely, but I bet the warmth of Mexico was even better. I cannot wait to hear about your trip.
It is never a good time to lose a parent, but I hope that beautiful flowers help you remember the good times with your mother.
Crème says to let Humph know that she is plotting her escape and will let him know how it goes.
I love that last picture! Here daffodils are already blooming, but it’s been raining a lot, so it doesn’t really look like spring!
Cold rain is no fun, but it is nice to know that spring is on the way. Crème sends greetings to Shadow and the other cats. She is excited to be making feline friends around the world.
