Flowers in a Curb Sale Pitcher
It has been snowing a lot here in the northeast recently. Yesterday, we went home early from school. I planned to come home and get some work done, but I fell asleep watching a movie instead. I think I was tired!
That evening it was still snowing when Douglas and I took Kahlua for a walk. It was so peaceful as we walked down the middle of the street where the snow was most shallow.
Kahlua was in heaven. She did not mind the cold in the least and was thrilled to be out with her two favorite people.
What does this have to do with flowers? Well, I happen to think that it is important to have flowers around all year long and not just when they are blooming outside. Douglas must agree with me because he brought me flowers the other day. He put them in a red glass vase, but I decided to put the pitcher to use.
Do you remember this metal pitcher that Douglas found in the trash one day in early December? It has been sitting patiently on the porch waiting for me to decide what to do with it.
I think it makes a beautiful vase.
Douglas is so thoughtful. He even remembered that purple is my favorite color.
Having fresh flowers in the house makes me just a little less impatient for spring.
While I was taking the picture, Douglas suddenly appeared in the background. He had been out shoveling snow. Thanks for the flowers, Babe! And for shoveling.
Happy Homemaking!
P.S. I am sharing this on Fertilizer Friday.
From cold and snowy to warm and cozy — you run the gamut. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
It certainly is bitter cold outside, so I have to do all that I can to combat the feeling of frostbite! I heard that you even got snow down in Virginia.
The pitcher makes a beautiful vase! Your house looks charming in the snow. I like the night photos with the snow falling!
Last night was beautiful. I never mind the cold so much when there is snow because it makes everything look pretty.
Hello little pitcher… I remember you! The flowers look great in them, Jessica.
You know I have a thing for flowers so mix a found/thrifted item into the mix and it’s a winner. The snow is so pretty! We’re about to get hit with some nasty sleet and rainy mess. UGH!
Cold is not nearly as fun down your way as it rarely brings snow. I went to the University of Oklahoma and took several trips down to Austin while I was there.
Your suggestion of a flower pot was what actually gave me the idea to use it as a vase, so thank you!
I just have to make an observational comment about Mr. Cape of Dreams here. Douglas and I likely wore shorts outside the same day. I, however, was puttering about in a sunny, 70 degree winter paradise, while he was walking the dog IN A SNOWSTORM!!! …in the cold night no less! The man gets a +1 sticker on his Man Card.
Not sure if it is manliness or insanity. He has been accused of both. It leans toward insanity if you consider the races he does. See more proof of craziness here:
