Halloween Shelves
The Halloween decor has progressed to the other side of the living room. It is not anything drastic – just a few little details.
The most important detail is the black cat of course. Halloween just is not complete without one, and Crème is thrilled to oblige.
A witch stopped by yesterday and hung her hat over the side table. We agreed that it looked good there and left it for the season. It is held up by black magic.
The drum is now festooned with spider webbing. It is just the subtlest touch of Halloween.
Lastly, I added a couple of crossbones to my thrift shop skull. These came from last year’s Thanksgiving turkey. I dried them out and kept them thinking that they could come in handy for my Halloween decor. I was not sure exactly what I was going to do with them, but I like them with the skull.
Ponche and Crème immediately came over to investigate. Thankfully, after a quick sniff, they did not seem very interested in the bones.
At that point, I thought that I was done with the selves, but the I was not quite satisfied with the overall look.
For the shelf across from the skull and bones, I added a small cloche with more skulls. It is hard to tell, but the little purple things are skulls strung on a fishing line.
I added more skulls to the top of the bookshelf on the other side of the room as well.
I am happy with the look of the room. The Halloween spirit is growing!
And here is the obligatory night shot. It looks particularly cool in the creepy red light.
Happy Halloween!
I like the diversity of the drum change-out. You went for a thoughtful multi-cranium look. Eerie but not too creepy (like spiders). Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
I think that I might keep that material on the drum for a while. It looks nice and does not scream Halloween. I did fewer spiders than normal this year, but there are a few around.
You did very well on your shelf decor… But Creme only needs to appear, that’s how great she is!
And she knows it!!!
Looks good in there! Our cats would have all those little skulls shoved under the furniture in no time. And they’d do it while we are trying to sleep!
The skulls were safe for about four days, and they the cats discovered that they could reach them. Luckily I was home and heard the first one fall so that I could go rescue them.
love the spider web drum!
Me too!
