Halloween Windows

Those of you who know me are aware that Halloween has been my favorite holiday since I was a kid. I went trick-or-treating every year until I graduated high school and moved to Venezuela where they did not celebrate Halloween. I cannot even tell you how sad that made me. However, that is a story for another day, perhaps next week.

Last year, as always, we went all out here at the Cape of Dreams. I wrote about carving pumpkins and roasting pumpkin seeds, my no-sew bat curtain, the Headless Bicycle Man, and our Zombie Bride and Groom Halloween costumes.

This year, I shared Scary Halloween Bicycle Man with you.

This weekend, after I made the Scary Halloween Bicycle Man, I decorated our windows.

In the bedroom, I put up these glowing eyes. I bought them at CVS. I do not normally buy lots of decorations; I love to make them myself, things like Scary Halloween Bicycle Man. However, I was a sucker this time for the buy one get one half off sale at CVS and the cheap price. They don’t look so good in the bedroom where I hung them from wire hangers, but I do like them from outside at night. They get spookier the darker it gets outside.

I rehung the no-sew bat curtain in one of the living room windows. Last year it was a little too high when I hung it on the curtain rod. This year, I was able to attach it to the bottom of the blind with straight pins. I think it looks a lot better this way. The bats are more centered and well-framed by the window.

In the other window, I hung my large spider that I bought several years ago at Joann’s. I also strung up Halloween lights with glowing spiders that I bought at CVS. Crème is of course there to add the extra touch. She knows the importance of having black cat for Halloween.

The third and last living room window has a couple of spiders. I cut them out of stiff black paper last year and attach them to the window with a roll of painters tape.

In the basement windows I put spider and rat cutouts. These were made last year as well. It started to rain when I went out to get pictures of them, but that just adds to the eerie effect of the windows in my opinion.

There are a couple more rats running along the baseboard in the living room. I forgot to take a picture of them.

And of course, there is a black cat running all over the house adding to the Halloween spirit. Oh how she loves this holiday.

I hope everyone is enjoying Halloween. I feel sorry for those of you that are in countries where they do not celebrate.

Happy Homemaking and Happy Halloween!

About

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house.
