Happy Valentine’s Day!
Technically the big day is tomorrow, and today is Friday the 13th. For some reason, it always thrills me when Valentine’s Day immediately follows Friday the 13th. It just seems to fit my macabre sense of humor.
I do not do a lot of decorating for Valentine’s Day, since my house is already adorned with red and purple it does not seem necessary.
You may have noticed my new wreath in some of my posts recently. I saw it in Target in December and fell in love.
I think that it originally cost about $70. I waited to see if it would come down in price. After Christmas it was $30, and there were not many left that had not sustained a great amount of damage. I found one that was still in good shape and snatched it up.
What I love about it is that it is made of wood. Each “rose” is made of birch wood shavings. The effect is stunning. They also had wreaths in natural and white, but you know I just had to have the red. My argument was that it would work for both Christmas and Valentine’s Day, but the truth is that it will always look good in my living room!
The one thing that I did make for Valentine’s day was a heart garland.
I followed the same methods as I did for my Christmas holly garland last year. It entailed spending a couple of nights cutting out hearts while watching television and about an hour of gluing.
Crème seems to approve of the finished product, which is odd because she did everything in her power to sabotage the project in the making.
I hope that you have a loving Valentine’s Day. It is always a good reminder to let the people that we love know how we feel about them. Here are two of my loves just after Valentine’s Day last year. This wall has changed a lot since then!
Happy Homemaking!
I love your wreath – glad you found it on sale.
I have a heart made in the same way – I didn’t know it was birch wood. I will admit that it is frequently on display in our house.
A heart shape would be beautiful! Now I will be searching for another. 🙂
Happy Valentine’s Day to you both!
And to you as well. I hope that everything is cozy in the little cottage in Brittany.
Love it! Happy Valentine’s day
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and Jack as well. I have been following your travels on Facebook. Amazing trip!
