How Are Things Going in the Bathroom?
That is a disturbing name for a blog post. Hopefully, people will not be too scared to open and read this. Alternative titles were “It Always Gets Worse Before It Gets Better” or “Holy Crap. It is already one o’clock in the afternoon, and I still don’t have a blog post written!”
The first step in the renovation was the filling of many holes by Douglas. Who puts a shower curtain rod into the wall? This is just one example, but I did not want to bore you with the thousand others.
After the patching came a heck of a lot of sanding. Once again, Douglas did it all. He is a saint. *Update below
I put translucent film in the windows so that we could remove the roller blind. It is not perfect, but I have not yet decided if it bothers me enough to go buy another sheet. It turns out that these are easy to adhere to the window but very difficult to cut correctly. I think that it would have been easier for me to use scissors, but I kept attempting to use a utility knife.
Yesterday, Douglas started painting the trim. It will take many coats of black to cover completely. Right now it pretty much looks like crap.
I really hope that it will look better once there is complete coverage. Do you think the black is a big mistake?
Happy Homemaking!
Update: Douglas is not a saint. He will occasionally do nice things for me, just so I do not get too mad when he later acts like a jerk.
I think the black trim will look awesome!!!
I appreciate the vote of confidence. It is hard to have faith when it is so streaky.
I think the black will look sharp, too, once it has another coat. Black trim is hard to paint because all the tiny flaws at the edge show up more than with white. But see how good it already looks in your first photo? Have a great weekend!
My idea was to give the room a tailored look. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will fill the bill once it is done.
Use as many coats as it takes — the finish will be worth it. Can’t wait until you’re done this project — this work in progress is daunting. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
I cannot wait until we are done either, and I am afraid that it will not be for a while. I really hope we can finish this weekend.
I think it will look great, l love the art deco feel of your bathroom. You made me chuckle with your comment about Douglas x
Art Deco is my favorite design style, so I love your comment. As for Douglas, he really made me mad right after I had finished writing the post. Men!
Team black, love the vintage mint green tile with black!
I’m glad people agree with me. Douglas was hesitant when I came up with the idea.
I think the black will look perfect against your light green tiles.
Thanks for having faith in my vision. It is looking much better already!
