In bed – En la cama
The living room is not the only room in our house to have seen some changes recently. The bedroom is also looking different these days. Here it was back in August.
This is what it looks like with a new quilt. I bought a king sized quilt because I feel like the queen sized ones do not come up high enough for me when I pull then down to cover the foot of the bed. This one is enormous, and is probably too big for our bed, but I love the I can pull the covers over my head while they are still tucked in down below. However, just the quilt was a little plain.
So I added the throw pillow that I made for Douglas for our second anniversary.
Then, I added a throw and threw a cat in for good measure. Everything looks better with a cat, no?
All of this took place on a Saturday after Douglas and I had to work all morning. We were both tired, and after I called him in to get his opinion on the new quilt, we both ended up taking a nap.
One cat came in right away and the other one joined us shortly thereafter.
The poor dog was abandoned on the floor because she cannot get up on the bed on her own. She let me know that I was a horrible person when I finally did get up and notice her down there. Can you see the reproach in her eye?
Even in its tousled state that evening, the new quilt was beautiful. I feel like I should take more pictures of my house at night. It has a very different feel than during the day.
I am loving the new quilt, but in reality, we do not get to see it very often. We keep the bed covered with a sheet because the animals like to sleep on the bed and the sheet is much easier to wash than the quilts. Just keeping it real people.
Happy Homemaking!
¡Que todos tus sueños caseros se cumplan!
beautiful new quilt! i really love it. the sheet is a brilliant idea. maybe i’ll try that. bonkers always sleeps on the bed during the day and leaves a mess of black fur. your house looks wonderful during the day and at night! i’m sure you’re busy decorating for halloween!
Thanks! I have to keep a sheet on all the places that Ponche loves to sleep because his fur mats down into the fabric like it is part of it and is hellish to try to remove. I am not sure if it is because he does not bathe himself as assiduously as Creme does. I do not have the same problem with her fur. Kahlua also leaves a mess behind, so sheet on the bed is a must. I need to get busy with my Halloween decorations. So far, I only have one hanging up.
The quilt looks great! I love the way Ponche lays with his legs stuck out behind him. And look at Crème giving him kisses! They must be pals by now. I like how my house looks at night, too, but other than at Christmas I seldom think about photographing it.
Creme and Ponche are just like human siblings. They are best of friends one minute and attacking each other viciously the next. For the most part, they get along well. Ponche makes us laugh too – the way that he lays with his legs straight out the back. He seems to have learned that from Kahlua who lays that way as well.
Mom always called that “froggie style.”
That is the perfect description.
