Lake Placid, Montreal, Quebec
This summer there has been little work occurring at the Cape of Dreams. Douglas and I have been traveling almost non-stop since school got out. Despite this, we have accomplished some things, and I planned to write about them this week. I swear that I did! However, life got in the way and I was having too much fun to sit at my computer and work.
You see, I returned home from Costa Rica at 1:00 am on Monday, July 20, and we had to leave on Tuesday to take Kahlua and Crème to my mother’s house. From there we drove to Lake Placid on Wednesday, July 22 for Douglas to compete in the Ironman.
While we were in Lake Placid, we visited the Olympic Hockey Rink where the Miracle on Ice took place and John Brown’s farm, which was particularly interesting since we had just been in Harper’s Ferry in March.
I also spent my birthday in Lake Placid. The main activity of the day was paddleboarding.
This was only my second time on a paddleboard; the first was in Costa Rica. This time was very different, as I did not have sea turtles swimming around me, but I did have a loon fishing nearby.
My birthday dinner took place at Player’s Sports Bar and Grill, as do almost all of our meals when we are in Lake Placid. The owners, Sonny and Alma, are wonderful people, and they take good care of us up there.
We left Lake Placid on Monday, July 27. The drive through the mountains was spectacular. I asked Douglas to stop the car several times so that I could get out and take pictures.
However, we still did not go home. Instead we went to Montreal to visit my aunt, cousin and his girlfriend.
On Tuesday, we drove to Quebec with Alejandro and Tía Anita, since Douglas and I had never been there.
I will have to share more about these trips later, but for now I what we have been up to this week. We just got home last night.
Happy Homemaking!
you are a busy busy girl!!! but sounds like a fantastic summer so far 🙂
This summer has been a whirlwind but in a good way. We still have a couple more trips planned.
I have a July birthday, too–on Bastille Day. Happy birthday!! That sounds like a fun and busy trip, the kind we always seem to take. Is that the chateau that overlooks Quebec? (Do I have the right city? Never been there.)Catch your breath!
Happy birthday to you! We both have birthdays on holidays. Yours is Bastille Day and mine is Christmas in July. 😉 That is Quebec. It was my first time there, but I already want to go back. You should plan a trip.
How wonderful to travel all summer! Had you heard that Harper’s Ferry historic area had a serious fire (after you were there) with $4M in damage? Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
There was a fire in Harper’s Ferry? I had no idea. That city does not have good luck.
Such a great trip, again!
It was!
