Living Room Update
Nothing in my house ever stays the same for very long, but it is my living room that has seen the most drastic changes since I moved in four years ago. After I had the last chair reupholstered last month, I promised to show you updated pictures of the living room. However, I decided that it would be more interesting to show you pictures from how it has evolved over the years. It is a shame that I did not take more pictures in the beginning before I started this blog. I would love to have more from the beginning stages, but I do have some.
This is what the living room looked like when I first came to the house. There was cheap paneling and someone else’s furniture.
Two weeks after I moved in my mother, brother, a good friend and Douglas came over on Valentine’s Day weekend to help me remove the paneling and two layers of wall paper.
I then lived with the living room like this for two months.
Then I paid another friend to come over and spackle for me. The walls were like this, spackled but not painted, for several more months.
In the summer of 2010, I hired a crew to refinish my wood floors. This is the only picture I have of the process.
In the summer of 2010, Douglas and I painted the living room, and my grandmother helped me pick out curtains.
Then, at some point I flipped the couch to the other wall. This is what the living room looked like when I started the blog in 2012. It is hysterical to look at the little tiny mini-Crème in these two pictures. Even then, she wanted all the attention.
These pictures are from my updated house tour in August 2013.
Finally, here is the new and improved living room of 2014!
Happy Homemaking!
So many changes! It’s amazing how that last pictures looks hardly like the same room you show at the begining! I love that picture of tiny baby Creme!
It was really cool for me to look back at the old pictures as well. I had forgotten the room ever looked like that!
Isn’t it fun to see how far you’ve come? Your newly upholstered furniture really looks good with your Oriental rugs–the colors are coming together! I love how tiny Crème is! I wonder if Lacy started out that skinny and short-haired … I suppose so!
Thank you! Sometimes I forget how far the house has come because there is still so much that I want to do.
Crème was adorable at that age. She had faint black and grey tiger stripes and a white skunk butt. I was so surprised when she turned out to be an all-black (except for the tip of her tail that was always white) long-haired cat.
