Most Popular Posts of 2016 – Los artículos más populares del 2016
Looking back over my posts from 2016, I realized that we have not been doing many projects here at the Cape of Dreams. On one hand, I would like to have accomplished more, but I also realize that we have not been doing as much work around the house because we have been out living life, traveling to Scotland and Argentina, and visiting with family and friends.
That being said, the tenth most popular post of 2016 was of us decorating our Christmas tree. It is strange to think that we had no idea that day that the boys would be gone before Christmas.
The ninth most viewed post was my announcement that we had been certified to take in foster children and that we were waiting to receive some. That was in August, and it would take three more months before we would hear anything.
Post number eight was our excursion on snowshoes after winter storm Jonas. I am ready for another storm if the universe is listening!
Number seven was about how we spent our last Christmas holiday. That was a fun time.
The sixth most popular post was about the making of the twig and twine tree at my brother’s house over Thanksgiving break. It was an easy and fun project.
Post number five was about the preparations for the boys’ arrival. My blog would not have been nearly as successful this year had they never come to stay with us even for a short time.
Number four finally is about a house project. We were building a kayak shed in the back yard. It was never finished, but I have high hopes that it will be someday.
Number three was about our other big project of the year – the painting of our house. I am so glad that we went through with that. I love how the house looks now.
The second most popular post of the year was the announcement that we had been chosen to give a home to two foster children. We had no idea how short a time they would be with us nor how much they would impact our lives in that short a time.
The most popular post was the saddest. It was the news that the boys were going back to their aunt. It has only been two weeks, but in some ways it feels like forever.
So, there you have the best of 2016 around here. Stick around to see what is ahead for the Cape of Dreams in 2017.

Blogging is a great way to look back to see what we accomplished the previous year.
I have kept a journal since I was seven, and I still write in it some, but blogging has taken over much of what I would write in there and has pictures. So convenient!
What a wild and busy year you’ve had! You couldn’t have predicted some of these adventures. Can’t wait to see what 2017 brings to us all!
Hopefully it will be a good year for all. I’m praying!
What a good idea to look back and reminisce. Here’s to 2017. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
As I get older I need this record more and more!
Can’t all be about projects, got to be about living too, and we did a lot of living. Besides, it may not count as a lot in numbers, but the upstairs apartment work was quite a extensive. If you would have been home that would have probably been a number of posts right there. Foster parent training also accounted for quite a few hours, and though no projects got done, a lot of work went into caring for those little darlings while we had them, and a lot of recovery as well.
I know, but I wish I could do it all.
Jessica,
I’m not getting any of your post in my inbox anymore, so I had just assumed you weren’t writing anymore. I’m so glad I found out that “most popular post” which allowed me to catch up. You’ve had a very busy and emotional year in 2016. I’ve re-suscribed, hoping it’ll work.
Oh no! I wonder what happened. Hopefully, the re-subscription works.
I was wondering why the upstairs apartment reno didn’t make the list, that turned out wonderfully! you guys did a lot in 2016, a lot of wonderful things and you forever impacted the lives of 2 little boys, and also the lives of your fur babies who are so lucky to have you 🙂 the twig tree project was among my favorites, but your house/door paint/colors is my top favorite project you did!
I think that Douglas was upset that the upstairs reno did not make the list since he worked a lot on that. We did accomplish a fair amount all told. Hopefully this year will be even better.
