Mother’s Day Weekend

We had a beautiful weekend here in Westchester, New York. My mother came up on Saturday morning, and we went on a tour of the Rockefeller Estate. This visit deserves a post of its own, so look forward to hearing more about it later.

The next day we had a picnic at the Croton Gorge Park.

My brother came up from Brooklyn.

When we got back to the Cape of Dreams, we ate the cake that I had made earlier. It was a pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing. I used my great grandmother’s recipe and pumpkin that I had cooked and frozen last fall.

Sunday evening Douglas and I went to a Pink Martini concert in Tarrytown. He went to humor me, but he thoroughly enjoyed the concert. They are an amazing band.

I even got up on stage to dance when they asked for audience participation. Please excuse the blurry picture, but that is me in the purple shirt. Douglas has a video of me dancing salsa with another women while I was up there. I had a blast.

I hope that everyone had as nice a weekend as we did. Thanks, Mom, for coming to visit!

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. 1. What a fun weekend! I, too, look forward to seeing the Rockefeller estate. You know I love Pink Martini, but I would never get up on stage! You’re brave! 🙂

    • Douglas would not get up with me either, but he did do the conga line at the end of the concert. It was fun on stage, but I was glad we were in the back!
