Project Organization- Fifteen Minutes
Sometimes it only takes a couple of minutes to accomplish something to make the house seem cleaner and more organized. I love these little projects that give me a sense of having done something worthwhile when I get home from work. This project involved cleaning and organizing a closet. I need to do a lot more of this, but at least this was a start. Crème approved of the project.
This mess had been bothering me for a while. Douglas’ shoes are just in a pile in the hall closet. This makes it very difficult to clean in here.
You can see just how rarely I do clean that closet by the amount of crap I swept out. There was a whole other cat in there.
After I swept everything out, I went to the basement to get a crate. We have a lot of them in there.
While cleaning out the crate, I found this hanging basket. It used to hang in Douglas’ kitchen before he moved in with me. I had been looking for it for a while, but since it never turned up, he thought that perhaps he had left it behind. I wanted to use it to hang plants in the windows.
I snipped out the middle basket so that the plant on the bottom would have more space.
I added yarn to the middle basket to hold a plant in another window. I will come up with a more permanent solution, but this works for now. Hopefully, these plants will start to grow better. They have been struggling for a while, and I have not found a good place for them.
Now back to the closet, the shoes look much more orderly now that they are in the crate. Maybe someday I will find a more attractive container for them, but in the meantime I am a happy with this solution. As you can imagine, it only took a minute to throw them all in, and they will be a lot easier to clean around now.
Yay for fifteen minute organizational projects! Here is the before and after.
Happy Homemaking!
Sometimes it really is the little things! Love how you used those hanging baskets. Very clever!
I love to re-purpose things. I am now on a lookout for more baskets!
