Someone Lost Their Marble

It has been a while since I posted a curb sale item. Many of you know that Douglas and I love finding treasures in the trash. We have found chairs, tables, mirrors and even a chaise lounge.

Mirrors are my weakest spot. I love mirrors and hate to pass one up. These are probably the most common item found in the garbage. In July, I asked Douglas to pull over so that I could pick up a mirror I had spotted on the side of the road. Beside the mirror, I found something even more valuable. Marble tiles. We packed them in the trunk and brought them home.

It seems that they came from a bathroom that someone is renovating. Any ideas what I should do with them?

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. 1. Curbside finds are the best. So far my favorite of my finds are an old rusty wheelbarrow and a great chair missing the seat.

Is there a spot you can use the tiles in the garden?

    • People in our area put the most awesome things on the curb. We often have to leave amazing things that we just do not have room for.

I would love to use the tiles in the garden, but I have not been inspired yet. The good thing is that they can sit outside in the weather and not be destroyed, so I have time to think about the perfect use for them.

    • We are drawn to our kind. 🙂 Douglas used to hate when I would ask him to pick things up off the curb, but now he brings home more than I do! You have some great ideas there. They would make great cheese plates, wouldn’t they. My only reservation is that if I use them for little projects I won’t have them later when I receive inspiration for something totally amazing. I need to get over that and start using them!

  2. Well, they are too good to throw away, so now you have to keep them and wait until inspiration strikes! Do you have room in your kitchen to make a marble-topped island? Or on your porch–a marble-topped table for plants? Refloor your bathroom? No, wait–I love your bathroom floor and I’d be mad if you got rid of those green tiles! 🙂

    • They are not going anywhere. Don’t worry! Unfortunately we do not have room in the kitchen or on the porch, but a table is a possibility. I just have to find a place for it in our little house!
