Something Old and Something New…
Douglas and I are going to a wedding this weekend, so I have wedding themes on the brain. However, this post is about something in our house that is both old and new in that it is old but new to us. Meet Library II. Isn’t she beautiful?
I found her on Craigslist for only $300. She is a little bigger than I wanted for the space, but she was too nice to pass up. Of course, now the mirror now needs to be raised. Douglas is not looking forward to that. It weighs a ton.
Of course, she will look a lot better once she is styled. I do like the lamps a lot better up here, though, and the cat adds a little special something.
I do like how the bottom left shelf looks. Can you see what is in there?
Here is a closer look. She did it to herself. I opened the door to put something in and in she went. She refused to come out until she had been locked in for a few minutes. Even then she exited grudgingly.
I will give you an update once I fill her up. Before I go, here is a picture of a visitor we had this evening. We are hoping that he will go tell his friends how awesome it is at the Cape of Dreams, and they will become regulars.
Happy Homemaking!
Really? The way you started out I thought the story was going to be about the wedding you are going to!
I’m sure there will be a post about that soon…
Don’t worry; that’s the next post!
yay for cool new furniture and hummingbirds! love the little dark connector thingys between each piece of wood on the front. omg i can’t even think enough today to describe what i mean! and crème, as always, steals the show 🙂 have fun at the wedding!
I get you! Those are a nice touch. I think it gives it an Arts and Crafts look.
Is this a Stickley bookcase? It’s beautiful. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
I was told that it originally came from Restauration Hardware. One thing is certain. It is HEAVY! Otherwise I would pull it out and look for a stamp.
This is gorgeous, especially with Crème! It’s the perfect stage for the yoga ladies, and the mirror behind it will be great for admiring their poses from all sides.
The yoga ladies look much better up there. Creme thinks she does too, but I prefer her on the floor.
It’s a beautiful piece.
