Where Have I Been?
The end of the school year is always a hectic time for me. This year was no different, but for some reason, I was completely unable to get anything done that was not school related. That meant that no projects were completed in the Cape of Dreams and no blog posts were written. The good news is that summer has begun – let the home work commence!
In fact, the first project already began. A good friend came over on Friday to help me begin a mosaic on my foundation. I am really excited about this idea and will share more details later this week.
So, the mosaic is going to be a big job this summer, but that is not the only thing that I have to do. My Project List has all of the things that we are planning… hoping… to do at the Cape of Dreams, but there are a few that I would like to focus on in particular. Douglas has his own list.
- Make an anniversary present for Douglas. (This is our leather anniversary, so I need to make something with leather. Have any good ideas for me?)
- Paint the grout in the bathroom.
- Hang the shelf in the bathroom.
- Hang a plant and pictures in the bathroom.
- Re-caulk the bathroom and kitchen.
- Buy a blender.
- Paint the patch on the kitchen wall.
- Paint the kitchen door.
- Paint the porch.
- Finish the denim chair. (This one is ambitious. I would be happy just to make some significant progress on it.)
- Buy a clock for the living room.
- Stage the new bookcase.
- Clean the rugs.
- Paint the trim.
That is one hell of a list. I need to go get started!
Happy Homemaking!
I love the mosaic project!!! It looks beautiful so far 🙂
Thank you! I am excited about it. I just need to find more broken plates.
Paint the shutters
paint and caulk the dormers
build compost bin
replace rotting wood on porch ceiling
replace all wood around base of porch
install motion detector light and paint lantern in front yard
build storage racks for kayak
plant my 15yr tree
replace subfloor and retile bathroom floor
spackle trim & paint
de-moss exterior of shed
fix hole in shed roof
make new cover for rain barrel
clean/organize workshop
rebuild phoenix (my old bike)
tune up maddie (my good bike)
tons & tons of yard and garden work
run & bike & swim hundreds of miles
and that is just to start…
Is that all you have to do?! You are lazy.
oh, and raise and install new bathroom light
repair hole in wall from old bathroom light
install shower curtain rod…
I have missed you and was hoping you’d been doing something wowee. Glad your summer has begun in earnest. Your list is something; Douglas’s is something else. You should have lots to blog about shortly. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
Let’s hope we make some progress soon! You cannot even know how happy I am to start making some progress on the house again. I have missed it so much.
Your list is impressive… or I thought so until I read Dear Husband’s list… May I add one more thing on his list “buy dear wife some chocolate or flowers… or leather purse for anniversary”.
Chocolate and flowers are great ideas! I like your thinking. As for the leather our deal is that we have to make our anniversary presents. Leather is going to be a tough one!!
I’m so envious of your summer vacation! I could do so much if work didn’t get in the way. That mosaic is such an original and fun project!
Now instead of work it is fun that will get in the way of my projects. I’m not complaining!!!!
Oh glad your back have missed your posts. You break up for summer early, here in the UK we still have six and a half weeks to go. Gosh your lists are ambitious…..there is nothing better than spending time on your home. Have a great summer x
It is so nice to hear that I have been missed. We probably start back to school earlier than you do, though. I am happy to get out earlier when the weather is nicer!
Shoes, Jessica!
Make the man some shoes!
Only if they have toes in them…
I will make shoes if I can get those handy elves to stop by overnight and do it for me! Do you know where I can contact them.
Leather key chain? Backgammon board? Your blog makes me tired. XoxoxoX
I like your ideas, but I think that I am going to go another way. Don’t feel too badly. I have not been getting much work done so far this summer!
