Winter Storm Jonas

From now on I am going to try the bilingual approach for my blog. I am going to copy Magali’s example, although in different languages.

Winter Storm Jonas

So, you may have heard of our blizzard this weekend, the good Winter Storm Jonas. We received 16-18 inches of snow throughout Saturday. This was much less than some states but more than others.

It was the first time in the snow for my little Ponche. He did not like it, not one little bit. In fact, from the moment I set him down in the snow he froze and refused to move an inch. All he would do was cry pitifully until I picked him up and put him back in the house.

Kahlua, on the other hand, loved it as always. Douglas made her the usual tunnels in the snow.

On Saturday we went out to remove the snow that had already fallen. It was still snowing, but it is easier to shovel it the less there is. As you can see there was already a lot.

It stopped snowing early in the morning on Sunday. The house was beautiful with all of the snow. Everything always looks prettier covered in white.

That morning we finished shoveling the snow. Our tenants created some frozen sculptures.

Nuestros inquilinos crearon unas esculturas congeladas.

That afternoon we went to the local Teatown Reserve to go snowshoeing.

Kahlua came with us, and as you can see she loved it.

Douglas wore shorts, of course. We only saw one other person on our walk, and he stopped to take a picture of the crazy man out walking in snowshoes and shorts.

It was a stunning day.

Era un día súper-hermoso.

It is a shame that we did not get a snow day off of school, but I am happy that it finally snowed. Let’s hope that it is not the last snow this winter.

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. • Thank you. Poor Ponche indeed! Creme seems to like the snow. She was out in it for a little bit digging around. She would have liked to explore more, but I did not let her.

  1. I like this format! Maybe I will learn a little Spanish vocabulary. I tried to read the Spanish first. (I have not studied Spanish so you can imagine it wasn’t easy for me, but I usually got the gist.)
Yes, Douglas IS nuts. Beautiful pictures … I would love snowshoeing there! Maybe Ponche needs a snowsuit and boots?

    • I am glad that you like the bilingual blog. I have been afraid to include the Spanish and have people not like it. You can come out here to go snowshoeing anytime! In winter that is. The snowshoes do not work that well when there is no snow.
