Blogiversary and a Messy House

Yesterday was my third anniversary as a blogger. Over the years I have used my blogiversary to give a house tour. The first tour took place in the first week of blogging. Follow up tours occurred in 2013 and 2014. My plan was to do another tour this week. Unfortunately, my house looks like this.

As a result of traveling for weeks at a time, the house has been horribly neglected. I was only home from Costa Rica long enough to drop some stuff off and pack a new bag for our Lake Placid, Montreal and Quebec trip.

We returned home from that trip late Thursday night and then left on Friday to go to Long Island and pick up our furry babies. That meant that even more things were dropped on the floor in our haste to leave.

There really is not a single room in the house that is even remotely acceptable. So, the house tour of 2015 will have to wait. I hope to have the house in reasonable order by next week. Wish me luck!

Happy Homemaking!

About

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. You can read about my projects on my blog www.CapeofDreams.com

    • I just found your comment in my junk folder. I am so glad I checked! The laundry is always a bear in this house because Douglas works out so much, but it has been particularly bad this last week. Arg! I don’t mind doing it, I just mind putting it away.

  1. I would have to have a week off to whip my house into shape (except if I had a week, I’d rather travel). This happens at our place all the time. I do have friends who never seem to have clutter … do they not have any stuff??
I’m coming up on 3 blogging years, too.

    • Congrats on three years! I suffer a lot of anxiety in the days leading up to traveling and after I get back, but while I’m on the trip I always think that it is worthwhile. I would like to get rid of at least a third of all our crap! Especially after returning from Costa Rica were people were so happy with so much less.

    • It is hard to believe that I have been blogging three years. The blog has changed a lot in that time. This summer it definitely seems to be more of a travel blog than a home improvement blog!
