Four Year Anniversary
Saturday, January 25, marked the four year anniversary of the day I closed on my house. It was a big day in my life. Although the Cape of Dreams was not the first house I ever purchased, it was the first home that I bought on my OWN. That was a huge milestone in my life. It felt good to have a place to call my own that I could do whatever I wanted with and no one could take it away from me, as long as I paid the mortgage and the taxes.
This is the first picture ever taken of me in front of the Cape of Dreams. It was taken in the fall of 2009, when I was trying to close. My mother came to visit, and I took her to see the house.
The four year anniversary was an important one for me because in my entire life, I have never lived in a house for four years. I guess that you could say that my parents raised me as a nomad, and I continued that lifestyle as an adult. I have lived in six states, as well as Venezuela and Spain.
I have now been at my job for six and a half years and in the Cape of Dreams for four. There are times when I start to get antsy; I am ready for the next adventure. Most of the time, I am happy to have put down roots and have no intention of leaving for a while. I like my job and I love my little home. Nothing symbolizes “putting down roots” to me more than working in the garden.
There will still be other adventures in my life. I doubt that I will be here until I die. I am sure that there will be other houses in my future, but this one will always be special.
Happy Homemaking!
Congratulations! I hope you and your house are very happy together!
I am happy with her, and I believe that she is glad to have us living there as well. I would like to think that she feels that we are taking good care of her! She has requested that you come visit. 😉
Such a cute house! I, too, moved around a lot as a kid and I’m very happy to stay put now. Just the thought of packing up makes me nervous. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
After all the work that you are putting into it, you would have to be crazy to leave that house! I am so glad you found your home. 🙂
Congratulations on four years with Cape of Dreams! I didn’t think I’d be in my house for so long, but I’m coming up on 30 years! And I have the accumulated junk to prove it! Keep on fixin’ her up … she’s worth it. She’s a darling house.
Wow. Thirty years is quite an accomplishment! What does it say that I have so much accumulated junk, and it has only been four years for me?
Congrats on 4 years! We just passed 11 and love to think back on those early days and all we’ve accomplished. You’ve got a great house, and a lot to be very proud of.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I love your house too!
Happy housiversary! I’ve been living in my cottage for a little more than three years, and like you, it’s my biggest commitment so far!
May you have many more in that adorable little cottage!
What a cute house! May you have many more happy anniversaries in it!
Thank you Beth!
