Halloween Night

The final touch for my Halloween trappings was to decorate the windows. In one window I placed the spider web I made last year and a black cat.

In the front windows I put a spider, the bat curtain I made in 2011 and a black and white cat. Douglas says that Ponche does not make a good Halloween decoration because he is black and white. Poor Ponch, he really wants to participate!

Our tenants added to the look with a skull in the upstairs window.

Douglas added some flashlights under the baby heads in the front yard.

We decided that just handing out candy would be boring. It is much more fun to scare the wits out of the neighborhood children. I put on some eye black and wrapped myself in a ripped sheet. It was Douglas’ idea to put the spider on my forehead.

It took courage for the kids to walk past the glowing baby heads and face me to ask for candy.

Then, as if that were not scary enough, Douglas put on his own costume. He would stand in the yard as though he were a statue and when the kids would get close, he would start to move. There were a number of screams. It was fun to see who was brave enough to walk past him. Some of the littlest kids were not phased at all, while some big kids refused to come to our house.

I wish we could have taken a better picture of the two of us. Some of the trick or treaters might have one. There were a lot of people taking pictures of us on Saturday night.

It was a fun evening. I hope you had a happy Halloween as well. I am sad to say good bye to Halloween for another year, but we already have some fresh ideas for next year.

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. 1. The spider on your forehead is genius! We decorated our porch with skeletons, but it rained so hard Saturday that the little kids stayed away in droves. πŸ™
