Holiday Break
Happy New Year, Everyone! I hope that you enjoyed the holidays and started the new year off well. Things have been good here at the Cape of Dreams, although busy. I apologize for going off the grid without a word. My break from blogging was not planned. In fact, I started several posts but never finished them. The last week of school was really busy, and then we had a lot of company and holiday parties. I have also been distracted by feline antics.
The holiday season began when my friend Lorena and her son came to help us decorate for Christmas. We have been friends for over twenty three years, and it is always great to see her.
I planned to give a whole tour of our Christmas decor, but I guess it is a little late for that now.
As you can see, we used some unconventional ornaments on the tree this year.
Our next visitors were my family members who piled into the Cape of Dreams for one night.
The next day we went to the Museum of Natural History.
I took a lot of pictures of mosaics as inspiration for mine.
From there we went to my mother’s house on Long Island. The holiday started with the Christmas Eve service at the church where Douglas and I got married. I love the candlelight mass.
Our family celebrates with a big party on Christmas Eve. This year it was at my uncle Bobby’s house.
My sister was Santa this year. Things were a little homo-erotic when her husband was called to sit on her lap, and there was a lot of laughter. Have you ever seen Santa Claus do yoga?
Christmas morning was fun. The animals particularly enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, there are not any little children in my immediate family yet, but we keep each other entertained. Yoga happened. Puppets were involved.
The weather on Christmas Day was unbelievable. It was so warm that we went for a walk on the beach in short sleeves.
Kahlua was in heaven. At least, she was until Douglas picked her up.
We also got a new niece for Christmas. She is a cutey!
When we got back home, my cousin from Venezuela and his girlfriend visited for five days. They were here for New Year’s Eve. We had several people there that night, but I failed to take any pictures.
Saturday and Sunday were the first days that Douglas and I had to ourselves since our break started. It was nice to finally relax. On Saturday we took Kahlua for a walk at the Teatown Reservation.
I am not sure how often I will be posting in 2016. We have done some projects around the house that I have yet to tell you about, but I seem to be a bit burnt out these days. I have enjoyed blogging for three and a half years now, but I feel that there have been other areas of my life that I have neglected in that time. I will continue to blog, but not so often in order to spend more time with friends, loved ones, and other things that I enjoy. Please, keep in touch.
Happy Homemaking!
great post and great pictures! sounds like you had a very busy but happy and joyful holiday. your new niece is adorable 🙂 and ponche is getting so big! love the pics of him in the tree. blogging does get exhausting and all consuming. I will probably back off on my amount of posts this coming year, too.
Ponche is HUGE! I miss the little fuzzball he used to be. The best part about blogging is the people I’ve met. Getting comments from you guys and seeing what you’re up to in your own homes makes my day.
I had so much fun with you over the holidays! Your babies and your home are so welcoming! We loved the private yoga class you got us and the homemade candle!
I had so much fun too! I’m glad you’ll be back this summer!
It looks like you had an amazing holiday and lots of fun with family and friends.
I’m looking forward to reading your post and updates in 2016 – even if they aren’t as frequent!
Happy New Year to you both!
Cx
Thank you! I enjoy following along with your projects as well.
Your holiday celebrations with friends and family are what it’s all about–much more important than blogging. And your house looked so pretty! I don’t know how you’ve kept to your schedule of two posts per week. I can barely write one every two or three weeks! Just don’t QUIT!
Ponche reminds me of my Checkers. Those black and white cats can get huge and they have that adorable little dickens look. LOVE him in the tree!
Happy New Year to you and yours (both human and unhuman…)! I understand about the blogging taking a lot of time. I’ve been blogging less since September as for the first time I teach a class that has a national exam at the end of the year… It takes a lot of my time.
I have five weeks left until swim season ends, and then I will have more time again. I just am not sure that I will use it to blog.
From the pictures, it looks like the pets really enjoyed the holidays 😉
They had a blast!
