Junk Drawer Organization

The Junk Drawer. Everyone has one. I have several. Some of mine are messier than others, and this one was particularly bad. It was getting difficult to open.

Messy junk drawer

The first step was to take the drawer out. I let it sit on the floor for a while to scare it into behaving.

Then everything had to come out. As I removed each item, I tried to put it in a pile with like articles.

This manila envelope contains letter writing supplies. All of the pens, pencils, tape, scissors etc. went into the take-out containers. Yay for free organizational bins!

All of these papers are destined for the trash. One stack went directly into the recycling bin and the other was shredded first. We shred everything that contains personal information.

This stack of art supplies went into the drawer below which was surprisingly empty.

At this point Crème came along to help me.

Ahhhhhh! I feel so much better now. It will not stay like this forever, but I promise not to let it get as bad as it was before… at least not for a couple of weeks.

About

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. You can read about my projects on my blog www.CapeofDreams.com
