Let There Be Pink! – ¡Hágase la Rosada!

Last Monday our painter arrived bright and early and started the painting prep. The preparations that had to be done before we could even start painting were one of the biggest reasons that I hired this job out. I was happy to have him do the caulking, patching and sanding.

The next day he came back to paint. I was thrilled when I walked into the living room to see the fresh paint – apparently too excited to take a good picture.

Then, I walked into the bedroom. Oops! Can you see the problem?

Mismatched paint in the bedroom

Maybe you can see better in this picture. It seems the can of paint that I pulled out in the dark before leaving for work was not the bedroom paint. The painter said that he thought the color was off, but he thought that it would dry to match the existing paint. Nope. Not even close to the same color. Unfortunately, I had no idea what the paint color was, and that room was painted before I started this blog, so… what to do. I will let you know how we solved this dilemma in a future post.

Back in the living room, we thought that now would be the time to make any changes in furniture arrangement, since several pieces weigh as much as an elephant or at the very least an infant rhino.

Arranging the furniture in the living room

The room did not stay that way, but you will see more in another post. I am sorry to leave you hanging with everything, but I am busy creating an exam for my students. Later, this week I will be grading said test, so we will see when I finally have time to finish setting up these rooms.

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. 1. Oh dear, what a shame about the bedroom paint color. Hopefully there will be an easy, or at least cheap, resolution. I’m glad the other painting went well and yes, all the prep work is a killer. Good decision on hiring it out.

    • Maybe I should not have built up the suspense so much. It might be a letdown! Lol. Choosing a new color would have meant moving all of the furniture in that room too, and I could not stand to have the whole house in complete disarray.

  2. The living room color looks gorgeous! I love the photo of Ponche closely supervising your painter. Yes, painting prep is a pain. I’ll be getting back on my painting projects in a few weeks, and I’m both looking forward to it and dreading it.
Do you have tenants in your upstairs apt again? (Unrelated question!)
