Under the Kitchen Sink- or Not

This would be an under sink project, but we still do not have a sink, so right now it is an under the hole in the counter project. That title for the post just did not have the same ring.

I wanted to put in hidden tip-out drawers and figured that it would be easier while the sink was still out. I bought two Sink Front Tray Kits. At home I checked out how the fronts were attached. There were just a few screws that I needed to take out.

I also realized that it was filthy in there, so I cleaned.

Then, I measured the holes and drilled. I also put the screws in to make sure that they would go in easily with the hardware.

When I started unscrewing one, the head broke off.

I went ahead and loosely screwed all of the hardware onto the panels.

It is easier to tighten all of the screws in place.

I am sure that this could be done with the sink in place, but it was much better to be able to access the screws from both sides.

Finally, I got the first drawer in, but I still had to deal with the broken screw on the other side.

My brother drilled a new hole in the hardware.

Then, he decided to adjust the other drawer slightly and broke off another screw. Douglas took over to fix it, and drilled a hole right through the drawer front. Arg!

Despite the hole, things look good.

My Magic Erasers, toothbrushes, and scrubbies now have their own little compartments.

I cleaned out the bottom and put everything back in a more organized fashion.

This was not even on the original list. I had to add it just so I could check it off.

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. 1. I love being able to hide my sponge and toothbrush in our tip-out! I only have one, though, because our sink front is only one door wide (could use a second, for sure).
We have so much trouble with the cheapo screws that come with hardware! Eric is always going to Ace to buy replacements … frustrating.
