Happy New Year Goals! 2019 ¡Mis metas para un año feliz!
Happy 2019! I hope that you are all doing well. I have missed you! Our holiday season was delightful. We spent time with Douglas’ family in Michigan. The boys had a blast with all of their cousins and had their first experience on an ice-covered lake. Now we are home, and things are good here at the Cape of Dreams. We have BIG news! Now on to our goals for 2019.
¡Feliz 2019! Espero que todo te vaya bien. ¡Te he extrañado! Nuestras fiestas fueron fantásticas. Las pasamos con la familia de Douglas en Mihcigan. Ahora, estamos de vuelta en casa y todo va bien en El Cabo de Sueños. ¡Tenemos GRANDES noticias! Ahora, te contaré nuestras metas para el 2019.
First, MOVE!!! It had not been in our plans to move anytime soon, but we fell in love with an amazing house for sale and had to have it. We are scheduled to close by the end of the month. I won’t jinx it with any more details, but hopefully I can divulge more.
Primero, ¡¡¡Mudarnos!!! No habíamos planeado cambiar de casa por muchos años, pero nos enamoramos de una casa increíble que estaba de venta y teníamos que comprarla.
Secondly, get the Cape of Dreams ready to rent. After we move everything out, there are a few things that we will need to do to prepare the place for rental. We need to clean thoroughly, touch up the paint, replace the bathroom floor, put an exhaust fan in the bathroom and repair the wall and ceiling that we have neglected for a couple of years. We will also have to finish the porch floor, but it might have to wait until spring.
Segundo, preparar el Cabo de Sueños para alquilar. Después de mover todas nuestras cosas, hay unos proyectos que tendremos que hacer para preparar la casa para alquilar. Necesitamos limpiar completamente, retocar la pintura, reparar el suelo del cuarto de baño, instalar un ventilador de extracción en el baño y reparar el techo y la pared que hemos descuidamos por muchos años ya. Además, tenemos que terminar el piso del porche, pero lo más probable es que tengamos que esperar el clima de la primavera.
Thirdly, rent the Cape of Dreams. Does anyone want to live in our little cape? We will give you a good price.
Tercero, alquila el Cabo de Sueños. ¿Hay alguien a quien le gustaría vivir en nuestra casita acogedora? Te daremos buen precio.
Finalmente, prepare the new house for our house warming party. We have scheduled it for June 9. Let me know if you will be in the New York City area on that date and I will give you the address.
Finalmente, preparar la casa para la fiesta de inauguración. La tenemos programado para el 9 de junio. Déjame saber si estarás cerca de la Ciudad de Nueva York en esa fecha y te daré la dirección.
So, I don’t have a long list of goals, but I have a feeling that it is going to be a very busy year for the four of us.

It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. This has been quite an amazing time for you all! Is your new house nearby to the Cape of Dreams? I’m glad you’ll be renting out the COD and not selling. That little house has grown on me 🙂 Does your new house need much work? CONGRATULATIONS!!!
The houses are a mile away as the crow flies or two by car. Leaving the Cape of Dreams is emotional for me. I am going to miss how cozy it is. The new house needs a lot of painting, but not much else. That we know of now at least!
Oh my, that’s one way to get those pesky bathroom repairs done! How exciting for you. You’ll be very busy but it will be an exciting busy. Congratulations. I hope the closing goes smoothly.
We should have though of this solution years ago! Hahaha. The prep for the move is not very fun, but it will be worth it once we are in the new house.
Oh, wow! I knew you had something up your sleeve! I’m happy for you–this will be such an exciting time! I’m also glad you are keeping the Cape of Dreams … it’s such a cute house and someone will be very happy living there. Can’t wait to see the new one! I hope you will continue blogging. It’s frustrating for me, but oh well. I hope to keep blogging, even though life is busy. I wish I could visit you as well. Maybe someday!
