Summer Has Arrived! – ¡El verano ha llegado!

Hello! Remember me? I know that it has been a while, but things are going well. We have been busy, but the school year has ended, and I am free again.

¡Hola!

The boys and I

The last that you heard from me, I was in Rwanda. I was there visiting three schools with a group of teachers from the school where I teach and spending time with old friends. We had a wonderful trip.

We even had the opportunity to visit the gorillas in the mist. It was the experience of a lifetime.

Big S and Little D are still with us. They are very special boys. I have never been told “I love you” so many times in my life. They tell me about fifty times a day. We have been busy visiting local attractions, hiking, reading books and playing.

We have found time to make a few changes around the house, but I have not done a good job of documenting them. I will try to do a better job about posting this summer. This wasn’t one of the projects by the way. It’s just an adorable picture of a cat sleeping in a sink in my messy kitchen.

Happy Homemaking!

¡Espero que tus sueños caseros se cumplan!

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. You can read about my projects on my blog www.CapeofDreams.com

  1. I was just thinking about you yesterday, realizing it had been a long time, so it was so nice to see this post. Cats – aren’t they interesting creatures?

    • Crème and Ponche are slowly getting accustomed to having the boys around as well. Crème is ever the attention hog though. I couldn’t post without a picture of her.

  2. Hi Jessica! Good to hear from you! It’s hard to write a blog when you have so much going on. Happy summer break–I hope you and your crew have a great summer!

    • It’s funny that you mention our busy and exciting life. When the boys first came to live with us, they used to ask to watch television all the time. Now their first question is “Where are we going today?” or “Can we go somewhere?” And usually the answer is yes!
